Salary(s): RX3 $57,212.00 – $69,071.00 per year

The Parks and Natural Areas branch of Conservation and Water Stewardship is seeking a qualified individual to fill the position of Head of Interpretation in Winnipeg.
Qualifications:
The following criteria are essential:
Graduate of a recognized Recreation, Park Administration, Interpretation, or Education program with experience in the field of interpretation, or an acceptable equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Experience in interpretation including interpretive program development, management, evaluation and assessment.
Ability to develop and transform long-term strategies into annual programs and organize the delivery of programs.
Project management experience with the ability to meet assigned project objectives.
Strong verbal communication skills including effective presentation skills.
Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to work in a team setting and develop partnerships with a variety of stakeholders.
Experience in budget and financial management.
Experience in contract management and/or administration.
Experience developing and implementing public education initiatives.
Strong written communication skills.
Experience working with Microsoft Office products or similar computer applications.
The following criteria are desired:
Experience in recruitment and training.
Knowledge of content and design requirements for non-personal interpretation.
The following criteria are Conditions of Employment:
Must possess and maintain a valid full stage Manitoba Class 5 Driver’s License.
Must be willing and able to travel periodically throughout the province of Manitoba.
Must be willing and able to work extended hours periodically as required.
Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
Duties:
This position is responsible for planning, delivery and evaluation of the provincial interpretation program in Manitoba Parks.
The Head of Interpretation identifies the direction for interpretation in the park system and recommends changes in plans or policy, major purchases, and new programs.
This position is expected to work independently to achieve program goals.
The interpretation program facilitates public awareness, understanding and appreciation of the park system’s natural and cultural resources and their management.
