Position Purpose:
This position provides hands on HR generalist/administrative support to the Western Canada District providing a high degree of confidentiality and professionalism. Ensures accuracy in transactional activities and has the ability to manage multiple requests while maintaining strong customer service. The position will be based in Lethbridge, AB Canada.
Principal Accountabilities:
20% Employee Relations: Provide support, coaching and resources for managers/employees. Monitor workplace for issues. Provide leadership in handling of issues related to policy and procedures, employment law, benefits, worker's compensation, open enrollment, employee discipline/termination, and employment related investigations.
25% Processing and data entry of HR transactions. This includes new hire/transfer/termination paperwork, employee changes (compensation, promotions, title, manager, etc.), leaves of absence, etc.
20% Employee Selection/Retention: Provide leadership to selection/retention activities handled at the locations. Work closely with Talent Recruiting for corporately recruited positions. Ensure compliance to recruitment guidelines and management understanding of the selection process. Conduct new hire on boarding. Complete exit interviews and ensure appropriate follow-up.
25% Business Unit Specific HR Initiatives: Ensure compliance and upkeep of all HR process related requirements. Conduct audits where appropriate. Serve as lead or support for various initiatives at the locations or within BU on execution of HR Business Plan including areas such as engagement, guiding principles, HR process optimization, Performance Management Plan, career development, employment equity and training.
10% Contact for HR queries regarding benefits, policies, and processes. Maintain the Western Canada HR SharePoint site
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree, or commensurate experience and 2+ years Human Resources experience
Knowledge and/or experience in several of the following areas: compensation, recruiting and selection, employment law, employee relations, training and development or organization effectiveness
Working knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint and Word
Strong written and verbal communication skills including presentation skills
Demonstrated proficiency in confidentiality and professionalism
Ability to work independently
Ability to manage multiple priorities
Strong attention to detail and sense of urgency
Strong interpersonal skills
Preferred Qualifications:
Detail-oriented, effective planning and organizational skills, results oriented
Knowledge of PeopleSoft
