Accountable for supervising and participating in the efficient and profitable management of market centre facilities and inventories, including receiving, cleaning, drying, storing and quality control functions.
- Supervises and participates in the receiving, cleaning, drying, storing and shipping of all facility products.
- Assigns duties to operations staff and monitors work results to ensure the timely and efficient completion of assignments. Provides input to employee performance reviews.
- Monitors the condition of products to ensure they meet end-user specifications.
- Maintains an up-to-date understanding of end-user requirements in order to ensure product meets the required specifications.
- Maintains processing and warehousing standards to ensure compliance with quality controls.
- Monitors facility and processing costs, and recommends improvements to increase operating efficiencies and profitability.
- Maintains regular communication with Merchandising & Logistics staff to ensure that appropriate inventories are on hand to meet end-user shipping requirements.
- Maintains samples of processed grain inventories.
- Accountable for meeting facility housekeeping and maintenance performance standards and conducting regular housekeeping inspections.
- Co-ordinates facility operations with maintenance staff to optimize operating results.
- Performs inventory checks to ensure the proper warehousing and maintenance of product.
- Promotes strong customer relations by maintaining a high level of service and ensuring the quality of all shipments.
- Performs the responsibilities of other market centre positions during staff absences in order to optimize the efficiency of market centre operations. This will require cross-training in various market centre functions.
- Ensures compliance with ISO/HACCP program requirements.
- Performs other related duties as required.
Grade 12 supplemented by successful completion of the Agri-Business Certificate program, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Four years of progressively responsible grain experience. Requires Workplace Hazardous Materials Inventory System (WHMIS), Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) and may require Crop Protection Institute (CPI) certification and Level 3 grain grading. A demonstrated knowledge of regulations and standards governing grain and/or farm supplies. Computer competent. Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain effective relationships. Ability to work effectively within a team environment. Demonstrated ability to effectively plan and organize staff activities.
