Function/Purpose:
This position is responsible for public contact; within the R.C.M.P. City Detachment, involving receiving, recording and processing complaints and motor vehicle accident reports. Duties include providing assistance to the public, various agencies and government departments through the release of authorized information, entering, querying and modifying a range of information on the following computer systems: Police Information Retrieval System (PIRS), the Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC), Police Reporting and Occurrence System (PROS) and the Computerized Integrated Information and Dispatch System (CIIDS).
Job Requirements:
Grade 12.
Three years experience as a General Duty Police Officer which includes experience in the interpretation and enforcement procedures of the Criminal Code, Federal Statutes, Provincial Acts, Regulations and Statutes pertaining to Municipal Bylaws. Must possess knowledge of court procedures, court documents, police procedures, police filing methods, current acts, statutes, relations and bylaws.
Above average communication skills both written and oral to deal effectively with the public.
Possess excellent interpersonal skills.
Self-disciplined self-starter with strong work habits and able to work largely unsupervised.
Ability to function under stressful situations due to constant interruptions
Capable of gathering, analyzing and applying information using good judgment when making decisions.
Understand and demonstrate proficiency in basic computer operations such as Windows and/or Word Perfect
Ability to type 40 wpm on word processor.
Required to work shifts.
Must be able to be appointed as a Special Constable and pass RCMP security clearance.
Ability to successfully complete: RCMP PIRS/OSR/PROS Data Entry Course RCMP CPIC User Course RCMP CIIDS Reviewers Course
