The Product Development Agronomist (PDA) position is part of the Seeds & Traits R&D organization within Dow AgroSciences. The PDA will lead product identification and characterization activities, providing technical product assistance to the commercial seed sales and agronomy functions in the region.
The primary focus is on corn, silage corn and soybean products.
The primary purpose of this position is to identify and characterize superior performing products that contribute to the commercial success of the company.
The position directs external product testing in assigned regions. The position supports the overall research and commercial strategies of Dow AgroSciences (DAS) and affiliates. The position also supports the commercial activities in the Canada region and aligns characterization projects with those activities.
Primary Responsibilities:
Participate in annual product advancement meetings and contribute to the development of the product portfolio for corn and soybean
Understand product needs for the assigned region and represent those needs during advancement and cooperate with market specialists and research to fill those needs
Characterize current and potential Dow AgroSciences (Mycogen & Hyland Brand) products for the assigned sales region
Develop product positioning recommendations for the products adapted to the assigned sales region
Manage external advanced silage, nutritionally enhanced and grain trials in the region with cooperating Universities and other external testing services
Develop working protocols for field studies that are consistent with other PDA-initiated studies
Train the trainers (Customer/Market Development Agronomists) in the assigned region so they understand the strengths and weaknesses of new products as well as proper positioning
Be available to provide assistance and technical advice to the Customer/Market Development Agronomists
Provide assistance to Traits & Germplasm Licensing personnel through establishment of demonstration plots and providing relevant training
Be willing to travel the assigned sales region extensively while fulfilling the documented responsibilities.
