We seek an Administrative Assistant Intern to assist our Human Resources team with a variety of HR activities, primarily in the area of administrative tasks. Based in Edmonton, this entry-level position is ideal for someone looking to establish experience in and fast pace administrative role within the HR field at a fast-paced multinational company with an ever-changing work environment.

Major responsibilities include:
- Placing job postings in a variety of publications, websites and job boards; utilizing inventive methods and sources for attracting quality candidates to North America's Premier Railroad

- Reviewing of resumes and applications, administration of screening tests

- Coordinating and conducting interviews, and identifying superb candidates while proactively working to ensure CN builds a diverse workforce

- Arranging career fairs (set up, invites, and follow up)

- Assisting the Recruitment Coordinator with advertising strategies

- Researching key trade schools and other outreach activities to build strategic relationships on behalf of CN

- A substantial volume of database management is required on an ongoing basis

- Continual analysis and review of existing procedures is encouraged and recommendation of changes when necessary to maximize efficiencies and improve processes

- Filing and other various administrative tasks

This is a contract position (Approximately 4-6 months to be determined with the potential of extension), 40 hours per week. Overnight travel may be required throughout Western Canada.

Employment requirements:
- Highly motivated self-starter; a result-oriented individual who thrives on the pressure of a fast-paced work environment

- Attention to detail, strong organizational and time management skills are all required.

- Skilled user of Microsoft Word and Excel as well as high comfort level with internet recruiting sites is necessary. Proficiency with SAP would be considered an asset

- We frequently pack recruitment documents for shipping. The successful candidate must be able to lift up to 20 lb.
