$27.82 - 29.28 - 30.83 per hour
Hours of Work: This position works a non standard 38 hour work week. Must be willing to go on on-call list for evening and weekend coverage.

Corporate Properties & Buildings (CPB) is The City's corporate accommodation planner, property and real estate manager. We plan, design, build, and operate leading edge facilities and acquire land for critical infrastructure for municipal purposes. This includes vital land and buildings for transportation, emergency response stations, operation sites and administrative buildings. Our vision is to deliver optimal land, development and facility solutions within a triple bottom line decision making framework to help achieve a sustainable city for everyone.
   
Responsibilities
The Building Maintenance Worker 2 will perform a variety of physical and labour intensive general building maintenance duties, both inside and outside.  Primary duties include:

    Repair or replace all types of plumbing fixtures (sinks, urinals, toilets, flush meters and taps) in commercial or residential buildings.
    Maintain and repair wash bays and all related equipment, hoses, guns, pumps, softeners, hot water and soap tanks and their mixing systems.
    Daily inspections and tests of manual and electric overhead doors, checking operation and safety systems as well as any related hardware, make repairs when practicable.
    Mount all boards, shelves, racks, screens television and keyboard trays to walls, ceilings and desks.
    Inspect mechanical and confined spaces.
    Four season maintenance of reflecting pools, their strainers, fittings and underground irrigation systems and controllers.
    Set up and work special functions (chairs, tables, podiums, banners).

Working Conditions: Must be capable of working independently in high rise office buildings, garages, health clinics, workshops and multi services facilities.
   
Qualifications
The successful applicant must possess a High School diploma or equivalency (e.g. GED) with two years of previous experience. Previous experience must include ability to trace water lines to the shut-off and basic understanding of mechanical and electrical systems. This position requires a Class 5 Driver's Licence or provincial equivalent with no more than six demerit points, no current suspensions or charges pending and the ability to obtain a City of Calgary operator's permit is required.

Applicants should have exposure to various trades and will be provided training in Transport of Dangerous Goods (TDG), First Aid/Automated external defibrillator, Fall Arrest and confined entry. Experience with oxyacetylene, cutting torches, chain saws, power tools, lifts and scaffolding are considered assets along with bobcats, forklifts, gators and gravely operations. This position requires the ability to work independently and within a team.
