$31.34 - 34.48 - 36.21 - 38.01 - 39.94 - 41.92 per hour
Hours of Work: This position works a standard 35 hour work week.
Business Unit Information
Infrastructure & Information Services (IIS) provides operational, technical and strategic engineering, geospatial, project and data management support to City of Calgary operations and ultimately Calgarians. The business unit is committed to supporting land planning and management, capital construction, policy development and informed decision making.
Through leadership, innovation, integration and partnerships, IIS supports the Corporations front line operations in the delivery of services from economic, social and environmental perspectives. The business unit encourages relationships with partners from City departments, industry and public organizations to support the delivery of quality public service to Calgarians.
Responsibilities
This position will create and maintain The City of Calgary's geospatial data in accordance to established drafting principles and provide multidiscipline drafting services. Duties are performed in a Computer Aided Design (CAD) and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) environment. This position provides coaching and mentoring to others in order to achieve goals and objectives of the work unit and clients. Primary duties include:
Create and maintain data sets, including as-built and design drawings, standard drawings, presentations and maps.
Utilize MicroStation and ArcGIS and/or Oracle link database or other software on behalf of a number of clients.
Assist the Geospatial Coordinator in quality assurance and adherence to standards.
Mentor and train team members and maintain documentation/templates/toolsets related to drafting and data maintenance processes and standards.
Assist in testing and implementing new programs/procedures and attend meetings as required.
Qualifications
The successful applicant must possess a completed two year diploma or a degree in Architectural Technology (AT), Civil Engineering Technology (CVT), Engineering Design and Drafting Technology (EDDT), Geomatics Engineering Technology (GNT), Applied GIS (Geographic Information Systems) or a related discipline plus a minimum of three years of related drafting experience. Basic proficiency in Microstation, ArcGIS and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook) are required. Previous experience using software for transportation/traffic drafting design and AutoCAD will be considered assets. Success in this position requires the ability to work independently without supervision, and possess a high level of multi-disciplined drafting skills.
