This position is part of the Project Management Office (PMO) within Canada IT reporting to the Director, PMO. The PMO provides project management services and portfolio reporting for a wide range of internal projects within PwC Canada, including complex IT projects as well as a variety of strategic business initiatives.
The Senior Project Manager will independently lead and manage multiple complex, high impact projects through to successful completion by following a structured project management methodology and approach that aligns with PMI standards. Throughout the project life cycle, the Senior Project Manager will work closely and collaboratively with sponsors, key stakeholders, vendors, offshore providers and project team members to ensure that the solution implemented fully meets the costs, time and quality expectations of the internal client.

The Senior Project Manager is responsible for the overall success of the project and producing the project deliverables.

Key responsibilities include:
· Evaluating business impact and developing project business cases

· Defining, managing and monitoring the project scope, objectives, key deliverables, risks, budget, resources and securing the required approvals

· Identifying and managing resources as needed to accomplish project objectives

· Managing relationships with sponsor and key stakeholders, including communications, status reporting and escalation of critical project issues

· Providing direction, leadership and coaching to the team of project managers within the PMO

· Contributing to the management and reporting of the PMO portfolio

· Building and maintaining relationships with members of leadership that help profile and market the services and capabilities of the PMO

The Senior Project Manager must be organized, disciplined and focused with the ability to effectively lead and manage a cross functional team of people to produce the project deliverables. To succeed in this position, he/she must be an adept negotiator and facilitator, competent at relationship building and conflict resolution, possessing superior communication skills and acting decisively at all times. The successful candidate will be expected to work independently with little oversight, report to and communicate with members of senior leadership and coordinate and manage global projects involving other territories and remote teams.

Qualifications

Education/Experience:
· Bachelors degree or equivalent in business related discipline

· PMP certified preferred

· At least five years hands-on project management experience preferably in the financial or banking industry or a partnership-based business

· Proven experience managing multiple large sized complex projects from initiation though to implementation and hand-off to the operations and support organization

· Experience leading and interacting with cross-functional and offshore teams

· Experience and good understanding of business case development and process improvement initiatives

· Experience and good understanding of organizational change management practices and processes that address an organization’s change readiness

· Experience in coaching and developing people

· Able to develop business case with the client to identify the business value they are expecting and establish ways to monitor this throughout the life of a project to ensure benefits are realized. The Project Manager will utilize appropriate metrics, and report to the client the realized benefits of the project within agreed upon timeline/plan

Vendor management:
· Manages third party suppliers both on and off shore across medium and large scale projects

Product or Service Integration & Deployment:
· Assesses the potential impact of a solution, including process, organizational and technology changes

· Develops an implementation approach that satisfies the needs of the client and the business and is sustainable in the long term

· Establishes processes and organisational structures and responsibilities that allow the project to hand over ongoing responsibility for the changes made by the project
