Job Summary:
The Business Systems Analyst provides tactical/operational analytic support under the general direction of the project manager and/or business authority; serves as consultant to business units in planning and coordinating systems analysis and content migration; and collaborates with clients and colleagues to identify user requirements, perform business process analysis, assess process-improvement best practices, and recommend solution options.

Central Responsibilities:
• develop business requirements definition to be met by new or enhanced IT applications and business processes
• perform project scope management in such a way that project delivery needs and schedule are met while delivering expected value to the business
• contribute to the development of the SharePoint design of the enterprise information architecture
• support and work with the team during business unit deployments of SharePoint
• contribute to the design and development of workspace templates
• develop detailed specifications document from which solutions will be developed, designed, coded and tested
• develop and improve business processes and assist with the development of metrics within the technology and business organizations
• develop functional and technical documentation on specifications/requirements
• design data models and develop use cases
• lead analysis by undertaking information gathering and analysis and by eliciting the details of user requirements in discussion with users
• build long-term relationships with clients and ITS colleagues by communicating clear expectations
• assist in project sizing, resource estimates, scope and requirements
• participate in the process for prioritizing client requests
• make presentations to clients and stakeholders
• formulate test plans and coordinate testing; may perform testing
• work closely with the Release Management function

Key Requirements:
• college diploma or university degree in computer science
• minimum of five to eight years of recent experience in information technology
• minimum of three to five years of recent experience in business, with solid experience in systems analysis and support, structured analysis, or methods or procedures

or

• minimum of ten years of experience in information technology
• minimum of five years of recent experience in business analysis, with solid experience in systems analysis, structured analysis, or methods and procedures

• English and French essential
• linguistic requirement (minimum starting level): functional in second official language (training may be provided to help the selected candidate reach the required level of fully functional)
• ability to define a problem, look at it from different perspectives and consider alternative solutions before formulating a plan to resolve it
• ability to convey and describe complex ideas or situations
• ability to create models and frameworks that add new insight or help make sense of complex information or ambiguous situations
• ability to ask probing questions to get at the root of a situation/problem or to identify potential opportunities
• excellent interpersonal skills to interact with clients and team members
• strong verbal and written communication skills
• ability to clarify complex concepts/proposals in terms that are appropriate to the audience
• ability to adapt style, mode and tone based on audience/client reactions and the issues being addressed
• ability to seek ways to significantly improve administrative/operating processes and procedures and to implement cost-saving measures to meet efficiency objectives, even when measures are unpopular
• ability to consistently show initiative and resourcefulness to solve problems and ensure that high-quality work is produced, while respecting deadlines and budgetary considerations
• ability to apply a broad range of skills to build consensus within a homogeneous group
• ability to deliver presentations that are clear and appropriate to the audience
• experience in business process modelling using a notation standard in an appropriate business process modelling tool
• experience in use case development

Assets:
• fully functional in both official languages
• Certificate in Business Analysis
• experience in a Solution Package selection process
• experience in interaction with a Data Analyst with respect to gathering data requirements while modelling processes
• experience with IT Service Management Framework
• knowledge of service and project delivery methodologies
• experience with Rational Unified Process (RUP), system development life cycle (SDLC) or other software life cycles
• understanding of the Bank’s functions and core business processes
• experience in performance measurement
