We are looking for a Transport Assistant to work on an on-call auxiliary basis.
This position is responsible for transporting RCMP vehicles to and from service and vehicle repair shops. Along with performing minor repairs, such as replacing light bulbs and fan belts, re-soldering broken contacts, replacing fuses and simple rewiring of burned out sections of wire, duties include road testing vehicles with mechanical problems to determine the repairs needed; checking service and repair work to ensure billed for has been done; maintaining an inventory of supplies; developing and maintaining maintenance costs spreadsheets; and ensuring all vehicles are equipped with standard supplies and equipment. Related work is performed as required, including maintaining the interior cleanliness of the vehicles.

We are searching for someone with sound experience in the operation of passenger vehicles and some experience in automotive repair or service work;
knowledge of the rules of safe operation of passenger vehicles and vans;
of RCMP policies, practices and procedures;
the ability to operate police radios, to check servicing and repair work and to determine the general nature of mechanical problems;
to follow oral and written instructions and to prepare and maintain simple files and records;
to maintain effective working relationships with a variety of internal and external contacts;
and to perform simple repairs.

Mechanical aptitude related to vehicles is required, along with skill in the use and care of tools and related equipment. 
Experience or familiarity with computer programs, including spreadsheets, is desired.
A valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License is required. 
The position will require an incumbent to obtain and maintain an Enhanced RCMP Security Clearance.
