Role purpose:
    To identify and prioritize important study topics, design studies, and to conduct field evaluation and testing of integrated cereal solutions
    Leverage the resources and knowledge of the entire Syngenta research organization to advance and optimize our Integrated Strategy
    To develop performance data needed to effectively position and create market demand for integrated solutions
    Provide analytical and field research insights to the development and execution of the overall Integrated Strategy

Key Responsibilities:
    Plant, maintain, and harvest trials with focus on cereals. This includes routine site/farm maintenance activities such as tillage, soil sampling, fertilizer applications, planting plots, applying/implementing treatments, collecting observations and in-season data, and maintaining the plots throughout the growing season.
    Collaboration with Syngenta Global colleagues to further Best Practices and opportunities in Canada
    Participate in key cereal strategy and industry meetings within North America
    Fundamental understanding and/or experience in conducting integrated solution evaluations
    Fundamental understanding and/or experience in assessing pesticide performance, plant health, and requirements for varietal selections
    Understanding in the Varietal and Chemical Registration processes within Canada and responsible for data interpretations and summaries that are required by Regulatory agencies
    Understanding in conducting projects with interactions of Germplasm screening and Crop Protection Chemistry
    Excellent understanding of general agronomy, pest management, crop physiology, plant growth & development and grower production practices on assigned crops
    Excellent understanding of experimental plot design and techniques to deliver data to meet project objectives
    Provide solution information and technical agronomic recommendations to Syngenta personnel, including Research & Biological Assessment and Cereal Crop Team
    Assists in the development of biological data for Western Canadian products, acting as a technical resource for these products
    Support Field Biology Development Program (Canola, Pulses) as required to ensure success in all Portfolio Management projects                               

Qualifications:

Critical knowledge;
    B.Sc or M.Sc in Chemistry, Biology, or any relevant discipline in the agronomy field preferred.
    Minimum of 3 years experience in field research of Seed and/or Crop Protection products
    In depth understanding of Cereal production in Western Canada
    Experience evaluating and developing Seed and Crop Protection Products

Critical experience/education;
    Knowledge of agronomic cereal production systems including detailed knowledge of plant diseases, weed science, germplasm, insect pests and accepted agronomic practices
    Knowledge of registering products with PMRA in Canada.  Working knowledge of CSTA and PGDC requirements in Seed development would be an asset
    Knowledge of statistical field trial design
    Technical knowledge as it relates to the use of Crop Protection products in Canada
    Knowledge of the regulatory process for submission of bio-efficacy data following current PMRA guidelines
