The Township of Langley is currently recruiting for a regular full-time Engineering Technologist II to join our team of professionals in the Engineering Division, Public Works – Operations – Utilities Department.
Reporting to the Utilitiy Operations Superintendent, you will be responsible in this unionized position for performing, planning, design, estimating, inspection and review functions for major sanitary, storm water pumping, and water systems and related facilities. You will also act as liaison and coordinator between engineering and/or construction firms and operations; establish project requirements, prepare project schedules and monitor budgets; as well as chair meetings related to assigned projects; review plans and working drawings at various stages for conformance to project guidelines and established standards. You will coordinate the water and sewer revenue metering program, and the cross connection control program.
Your education will include graduation from an Institute of Technology with a Diploma in Civil and Structural Technology, including or supplemented by courses in project management, plus considerable related experience preferably in a Municipal setting; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Certification or eligibility for certification as an Applied Science Technologist within the Province of British Columbia, a valid Class 5 (full privilege) British Columbia Driver’s License is required. A Cross Connection Control Tester Certification is would be an asset in this role.
The CUPE rate of pay for this position is $33.14 – $39.11 per hour (2011 rates) plus benefits. The hours of work are Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.
