This position involves constant contact with the general public and community groups in the operation of a high volume cash handling and customer service desk.
Duties include answering enquiries regarding facilities, recreation programs, rules and regulations, services and special events, and handling complaints.
Other responsibilities are registering patrons using CLASS computerized registration system, handling cash according to departmental policies and procedures and collecting appropriate fees for programs and services.
Additional work includes processing payments for facility allotments, compiling, updating and maintaining office records, assisting with maintaining an inventory of front desk supplies, may type correspondence and forms and files documents and reports, operating electronic cash register, Transelect credit/debit systems and other office equipment.
Performs related work as required.
Completion of Grade 12 including or supplemented by commercial and word processing courses, typing (30 wpm minimum), plus sound related experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Experience in electronic cash, Transelect credit/debit card system and cash handling procedures desirable. Working knowledge of CLASS computerized registration system is an asset.
Ability to deal effectively and courteously with the public; to work as part of a staff team; and to maintain composure under stressful situations.
Sound knowledge of department facilities and programs required.
Ability to exercise initiative and make decisions in accordance with applicable guidelines and policies.
Schedule: Tuesday to Friday (4:00pm – 10:30pm); 24 hours per week.
