The Ontario Veal Association (OVA) is seeking a friendly, open minded self-starter with the natural ability to learn on the go to join our high performance team.
We are currently offering a 12-month contract position for a Project Coordinator to cover a maternity leave.

Working closely with the Executive Director and team members, the Project Coordinator works to implement the research and development initiatives as set out by the OVA Board of Directors. It will be important that the Project Coordinator is able to maintain excellent relationships and open communications with all project stakeholders, consultants, researchers and funding partners.

You should have experience in animal traceability, biosecurity and on-farm food safety programs and issues. An understanding of primary animal production and knowledge of the veal, goat and rabbit sectors would be a definite asset. As well, you have some familiarity with putting together funding proposals and have excellent oral and written communication skills.

Coordinating project development from initiation to completion, the Project Coordinator will perform a wide range of duties in support of our organization’s objectives, including but not limited to:

    Work with project stakeholders to complete project plan outlining scope, goals, deliverables, required resources, budget, and timing.
    Collaborate with funding partners where required.
    Track and report on project milestones and provide status reports.
    Coordinate and facilitate delivery of project objectives.
    Proactively communicate project status, issues & risks to management.
    Develop project funding applications.
    Develop educational programs for producers on bio-security, on-farm food safety and traceability issues.

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications:
    University degree or college diploma in business, agriculture or a related field.
    Knowledge of the Ontario agricultural sector an asset and specifically livestock production.
    Excellent organizational skills with demonstrated ability to execute projects on time and on budget.
    Good computer skills, proficient with all MS Office applications.
    Ability to anticipate needs and prioritize.
    Rapidly adapt and respond to changes in environment and priorities.
    Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective relationships and partnerships with key stakeholders.
    Excellent communication, problem solving and analytical skills.
    Ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks.
    Clear and effective verbal and written communication skills.
    Ability to give effective presentations.

Experience:
    3-5 years experience in project coordination or related field.
    Experience working in a team oriented, collaborative environment.
    Experience speaking to small and large groups.

We offer a competitive wage range, based on a 37.5 hour work week (Monday to Friday 8:30am to 4:30pm). There may be some evening and weekend meetings that you will be required to attend.

This position will start at the end of October, will be based from our offices in Guelph and may require some travel.
A valid driver’s license and access to your own vehicle is required.
