The ability to lift and transport related equipment weighing up to 30 lbs, a valid class 5 Driver’s License, travel to other court centres and circuit court locations and work overtime as necessary are conditions of employment.

Qualifications:
Essentials:
• Demonstrated proficiency in both official languages (English and French);
• Extensive related administrative secretarial/clerical experience;
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in a team environment;
• Demonstrated ability to project vocally without error;
• Demonstrated ability to exercise judgment, discretion and handle multiple tasks in pressure situations;
• Initiative and independent decision making skills;
• Experience  or ability working under minimal supervision;
• Superior organizational skills;
• Experience in processing detailed documentation while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail;
• Basic typing skills as well as proficiency with computer applications including MS Word and Outlook or equivalent.

Desired:
• Experience in a court or related legal environment;
• Knowledge/experience of courtroom documentation, procedures and processes;
• Completion of a recognized legal or administrative assistant program.

Duties:
The incumbent will be required to act as a Court Clerk/Monitor attending Provincial and Queen’s Bench court sittings. Duties include monitoring verbatim recording and accurate logging of court proceedings; receiving, marking and recording of all exhibits; reading charges; entering record of proceedings; administering oaths to witnesses, maintaining order and other pre and post court related duties. Also assists the judiciary, legal profession, police and public.
The Deputy Registrar reviews and processes documents for prompt filing pursuant to Court of Queen’s Bench Rules, various federal/provincial Statutes, Acts and Regulations.  Registers and issues court pleadings and processes in all divisions of the Court of Queen’s Bench and enters pertinent information on the Court Registry system.
Staff Justices of the Peace duties include:  receiving informations, issuing process and determining issuance of subpoenas; assuring the accuracy and completeness of court issued documents; reviewing and signing of court orders with offenders, applicants and respondents; explaining court procedures and preventative justice programs to the public.
