Qualifications:
The successful candidate will be experienced in the maintenance of building mechanical and safety systems and have some minor experience with one or more trades such as; plumbing, carpentry, painting, HVAC.  They will also have experience operating and maintaining small motorized equipment as well as knowledge of Workplace Safety and Health Act, Regulations, Safe Work Practices and WHMIS.
Effective interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work as a team player are also requirements of this position.

The successful candidate must meet the following conditions of employment:
    They must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
    They must provide a satisfactory Criminal Record Check.
    They must also be physically capable of performing duties of the position including sitting, lifting, walking, standing, crouching, climbing, working in extreme weather conditions in winter and summer and wearing Personal Protective Equipment.   
    They must have a valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence.
    They must be physically capable to work at heights and depths.

Duties:
Under general direction of the Facility Manager, the Trades Helper (TRH) is responsible for the labour supporting the delivery of planned maintenance program and unplanned maintenance events on HVAC equipment, pumps, filters and architectural fittings at designated public buildings. The TRH is to assist other staff at tasks as may be assigned, keeping record of time and material used. The TRH will work as a team member and use current safe work practices and follow Workplace Safety and Health policies.
