Qualifications:
Essential:
• Extensive directly related experience performing the full range of legal secretarial duties.
• Experience in a criminal law environment.
• Experience and ability to deal effectively with related legal system stakeholders including counsel, courts, police, clients and the public.
• Experience and discretion dealing with confidential and/or sensitive material.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Able to work independently and use own initiative in making sound decisions.
• Proven organizational and time management skills.
• Experience and ability maintaining physical and computerized legal file systems.
• Proficiency with MS Office software.
Desire:
• Graduation from a recognized legal or administrative secretarial training program is an asset.
• Experience with one or more of the following computer systems: the Criminal Courts Automated Information Network (CCAIN), Corrections Offender Management System (COMS), Prosecutions Information and Scheduling Management System (PRISM), or other similar legal database applications is an asset.
Duties:
The incumbent is responsible for providing legal secretarial/administrative support to Crown Attorneys including researching and compiling file information, preparation and completion of complex legal documents and correspondence and creation/maintenance of electronic and physical legal files. Responsibilities include preparing and clearing court dockets, stakeholder contacts, scheduling, reception and other related office duties.
