We are currently seeking full-time clerical support for our Portage la Prairie location (two term positions and one regular position available).
The Crown Lands and Property Agency (CLPA) provides centralized Crown land information and services to the public and government. It provides service to the public in the areas of Crown land registry, leasing, permitting, licensing, and sales; and to government in the areas of appraisals, acquisitions, expropriations and other real estate services.
Qualifications:
Essential:
Several years experience dealing with various plans and legal descriptions, preparing legal documentation and land titles documents, or an equivalent combination of related post secondary training/education and/or experience.
Excellent organizational skills, be able to prioritize and meet deadlines, and work well under pressure.
Excellent written communication skills.
Excellent verbal communication skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.
Experience with Microsoft products, such as, Word, Excel, Access and Outlook.
Desired:
General knowledge and experience with policies, procedures, statutes, regulations and Government acts.
Condition of Employment:
Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
Duties:
Ensures complete and accurate information/explanation provided to clients (both verbally and in written correspondence).
Recommends steps to be taken to ensure compliance to specific statutes, regulations and for setting out conditions to be applied.
Researches Land Titles and Assessment records to determine ownership.
Corresponds with landowners, creditors, government agencies, municipality, etc. for processing agreements, registering documents, and requesting and disbursing government funds, with applicable trust conditions when required, using own initiative and form letters.
Prepares a variety of legal documents for execution by owners, mortgagee, encumbrances, etc. for registration in land titles offices or to facilitate processing.
Inputs data and calculates interest using specific computer programs or manually for the production of status reports and statement of adjustments.
Prepares various Orders-in-Council and Ministerial Orders.
