Qualifications:
Essential:
• Experience managing human, budgetary and financial resources and administrative policies and practices.
• Demonstrated experience supervising and managing staff resources including performance and attendance management, learning plans, training, assessing and assigning workload.
• Experience and ability interpreting and explaining legislation, policies and procedures.
• Proven ability to manage and provide leadership in a changing work environment.
• Proven ability to contribute to a respectful workplace.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with experience dealing effectively with diverse stakeholders which may include the Judiciary, legal profession, and the public.
• Analytical and decision-making skills and the ability to exercise sound judgment.
• Proven organizational and time management skills.
• Proficiency in the use of MS Office (Word, Outlook, Excel).
Desired:
• Experience in a court or administrative tribunal environment.
• Experience with and knowledge of The Court of Appeal Act and Rules and/or The Court of Queen’s Bench Act and Rules.
• Bachelor of Laws degree.
Duties:
As a member of the Courts Division Management team the Registrar of the Court of Appeal is responsible for the management, leadership and general administration of services that directly support the daily operational needs of the judges of the Court of Appeal including ensuring that appeals are brought before the judiciary in an efficient and timely manner in accordance with the applicable rules and statutes. The Registrar is actively involved in the day to day work of the registry and also the scheduling and coordination of appeals. The Registrar is responsible for the management of registry staff and the judges’ administrative assistants. The Registrar must effectively and diplomatically communicate and work with members of the court, the legal profession and the public. The Registrar must have the full confidence of the Chief Justice of Manitoba.
