The Centre is committed to an interdisciplinary team environment which promotes a high standard of quality care to the individuals who reside there. The MDC is an accredited residential facility providing specialized care, supervisory and developmental habilitation for adults with developmental disabilities.
Qualifications:
Essential Criteria:
Experience in nursing related to psychiatric, developmental, acute, crisis or long-term care.
Proven knowledge in nursing theory and practice related to resident centered care as it applies to psychiatric, developmental acute, crisis and long-term care.
Experience working in a supervisory capacity providing leadership and direction to staff
Strong interpersonal conflict resolution skills.
The ability to work independently.
The ability to work as part of a team.
Demonstrated effective written communication skills.
Demonstrated effective oral communication skills.
The ability to organize, and prioritize in a demanding, ever changing working environment with competing demands.
Computer Experience (MS Word, and Outlook).
Conditions of Employment:
Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
Diploma or Degree in Nursing (RPN, RN, BN) with an active licensure in the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba.
Satisfactory Criminal Record Check, Adult Abuse Registry Check and Child Abuse Registry Check.
Must be able to work the night shift rotation schedule.
Physical requirement to be able to lift up to 60 lbs.
Must be able to do rounds from location to location on a 100 acre centre every shift and sometimes numerous times per shift.
Duties:
Reporting to the Night Nursing Manager, the incumbent supervises the direct care staff on nights as a working supervisor. The incumbent is required to act independently in accordance with Centre’s policies and procedures. In addition the incumbent is responsible for taking a lead role in addressing emergencies on nights in the absence of the Night Nursing Manager.
